Goals - 2014/2015

VODEP is planning to install pipes and hook up running water into the school and cafeteria/library buildings.  Currently, there is no running water for the children to wash their hands and for the matron to cook the meals.  The women in the village fetch water in bowls from a nearby homeowner, for a cost, and carry in bowls and carry to the school every morning.

VODEP is also planning on installing electricity into the school.  A couple of years ago, teaching aids to be used on a tape recorder, VCR recorder, and record player were shipped to the school, along with the necessary equipment.  Currently, these are in storage since there is no electricity.  Also, we will install fans in the library, for air circulation for preservation of the books and furniture.

The weather in Ghana is tropical -- very hot and humid, with a lot of rain -- so the paint on the school and cafeteria/library buildings fades quicker.  For maintenance purposes, VODEP plans on painting both buildings every two years.  The last time the two buildings were painted was 2011.
